Apply now to take part of the next summer course in Aix-en-Provence! The opportunity to learn how to master the latest tools and technology to create real-time animatics and previsualisations that open up another dimension of visual storytelling! This two-week workshop will enable you to easily combine your 2D illustrations inside a real-time 3D environment, creating dynamic sequences that will feel like they are leaping off the screen in comparison to traditional animatics.
At the end the session, you will have new skills and visual results to add to your portfolio and give you a head start in the future of storytelling. You will be learning how to use EPOS and ILIAD from Praxinos, two plugins that work inside Unreal Engine, the real-time 3D creation environment from Epic Games.
EPOS, a storyboard manager and ILIAD, a paint/illustration tool, are both simple and intuitive, yet powerful and complete. The tools are designed for 2D storyboard artists who have never used 3D software before.
You will work within a 3D environment and create shots, cameras and planes in a few clicks directly from the Sequencer. Adjust the angle and the perspective and start drawing!

Your first week will comprise of three days of intensive learning all about the software and tools with Elodie Moog, co-founder and evangelist/ambassador of Praxinos.
You will start with the basics of how to use Unreal Engine and the plugins, fol-lowing up with adding 3D elements, creating camera moves and animating your images, and finishing with creating entire edited sequences with sound and other effects. Two additional days of hands-on practice with the instructor will help you master the tools and create your first hybrid animatic.
After a weekend of enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of Provence, you will spend your second week working with accomplished storyboard/animatic artist Jordi Valbuena, a 25-year veteran of numerous well-known animated series.
He will show how to use your new skills to create fully-realised 3D hybrid animatics in a variety of styles and themes. Jordi will help you to apply the standard filmmaking principles to create sequences that will be truly cinematic!
